Your preferred time is a starting point. Every tattoo and every artist is different, so your artist may need to adjust the date, time, or number of sessions to do your piece justice. A few reasons a tattoo can take longer than expected:

• Skin differences: some skin saturates cleanly, some needs slower, gentler passes.
• Placement: ribs, knees, elbows, hands, and necks are slower, more demanding areas.
• Detail level: fine lines, small textures, and intricate shading add up fast.
• Color saturation: packing solid, even color can take multiple passes.
• Movement: shifting, talking with your hands, or trouble staying still slows things down.
• Breaks: bathroom, food, stretching, or just needing a minute all add time.
• Swelling or irritation: as skin gets worked, the artist may slow down or change technique.
• Stencil & placement adjustments: getting the size, angle, and flow right can take longer than planned.
• Design changes on the day: tweaks to the artwork, sizing, or composition add time.
• Quality over speed: sometimes an area simply needs more work. Rushing a tattoo to hit a clock isn't worth it.

Because of all this, later-in-the-day times may not leave enough room for a larger piece, and some tattoos need more than one session. You're not booked until your artist confirms your price, time, and duration.
